hmm its been like a month since my last post. Got really lazy to blog, despite living a rather lonesome life over here. Oh well, i do upload some nice pics on facebook once a while, but okay there isnt much happening other than work related issues.

the bank just announced that there will be pay freeze and no cash bonus, and all sorts of weird clawback shit. I personally dont think ill get anything. So prospects of no pay rise, no bonus, and an ever decreasing value of the pound, certainly isnt good. And if that isnt bad enough, the bank will announce its strategic review in 2 weeks time. After this review ( ahem... job cuts ) is done, then jobs will be lost in 2 ways.

The first being layoffs due to redundancies, so maybe one or 2 within a team will leave. Bear in mind there was already round 1 in last december, so its getting leaner each time, and its like survival at this stage.

The second way is systematic risk: not an individual but by desks. If it is deemed that a certain country/ team is not performing, example the equities exotic team in tokyo, then the whole desk gets shut. Might be that tokyo is making money, but simply because the bank is nationalised and everything is scaled back and cut down, that they might close the tokyo office irregardless. Might be that my exotic trading desk will be shut, leaving only vanilla traders? who knows.

Surprisingly the redundancy package is quite lucarative with golden handshakes, and notice periods that it becomes like a large digital bonus. So the idea of relaxing for a year in singapore isnt such a bad thing. maybe its too early to say, cos i might end up jobless for years? maybe i shud just consider a career switch and host poker games, hehe

i also miss fiona, so going back would solve our long distance problem. otherwise, its tough.

but then again, i like my job, so in the long run its best i keep it for as long as i can. Ive been really stressed lately which is a good thing, but its affecting me quite alot. Im losing sleep just by worrying too much. Really feel like hall days... yes i worry alot back then... those days was all about finding solutions to organise this and that, like where to have dnd, how to run rhoc with so few ppl, how to get more participation in hall, activity allocation, points allocation, my dropping cap, and lets not forget miss tang!. come to think of it...those days were fun.

Now i worry about work, work, work. Never in my 3 yrs have i ever worried so much about work. im not worried of being fired, just that work is affecting me. haiz.. someone cheer me up please

Arrived at the airport, fiona picked me up, and headed to Tiong Bahru. No more clementi hehe. My parents and brother is in town so its been a family reunion these days with alot of eating from my favourite din tai fung fried rice to bringing my brother to kuishinbo.

I try my best to enjoy the festive season and the catch up with friends but i cannot help but be afraid of what will happen in months to come. I got a text from colleagues in london saying that they just fired TA, a junior trader who pretty much does exactly the same thing as me. Seems like they are targetting 1-2yr juniors like me... gulps. Already a few in tky , hk and london have left. You can only imagine how horrible this feeling is.. and it could seriously happen to me. Got to think of a plan b. mai ji fan?

So anyway, will still enjoy being back. Looking forward to adipos xmas party this saturday. but until then im bored to death. Anyone wants to go cafe del maar? i misss the sunny beaches already..

some of my friends have been made redundant. Really sad. Many of them are juniors. 1-2 year experience, earning below market standards, and yet a headcount is a headcount. People who are cheap and good are being thrown out of the door. Might be my turn one day. So i need an exit plan if this economy doesnt get back in shape.

its 3pm on a saturday... i look out of the window and the skies have gone dark. my apartment is freezing.. temperatures from a high of 5C to a low of -2C. Dont even feel like going out to get lunch. ordering 2 large pizzas have been my usual thing now

november is always a bad month to be in london. December will be worse. Days are gloomy and it will only get worse. At least i know im coming back soon , counting down to my flight to sunny singapore.

Once upon a time, i was an engineer. Putting it simple, work was very technical, but it was always slow pace, less stress, easy hours and income was steady. And after a year in the factory, a 25 year old me thought that life in the fast paced investment banking, unfairly rewards bankers who are no better than doctors, engineers, or scientists.

When i graduated, i thought getting a guaranteed 2-3 month bonus is good, never had i imagine the wealth on the otherside, where the grass is greener. it came in 12 months, 24 months, and even more. Then, up was the only way.

2008 brought the world back to reality. The days when my dad told me to study hard and be an engineer. "Dont study business, because the degree is too general, and you might nt get a job". Not getting a job? Thats unthinkable 2 years ago... Think i myself had switched jobs 3 times already without problems... Ah.. but that was the days of the bull market.. Say hello the the bear now.

rbs announces something like 3000 cuts in global markets. citibank 50,000+ worldwide. hsbc already started with 500 gone in hk. That is on top of the layoffs from lehmann, probably tens of thousands. And also many were gone since early this year. The entire market is flooded with bankers. and apparently its far from being over.

since moving to my new apartment, i was in shock that there isnt a phone line. So had to get one installed and that took 11 working days to book an appointment with BT. After that, i had to apply for broadband whch took me another 5 working days to go live. So finally i am fully online and i can surf properly without having to overuse my iphone safari which crashes most of the time :( Really paiseh for no updates.. thanks to those who asked about me in one way or other.

I had a week off work and Fiona came over, so that was indeed a wonderful week. But winter is coming, and its freezing cold ( maybe im too slim haha... i need more subways ). I have about 1000 photos and i can think of 10 different posts, but its gonna take hours to blog ths oout... anyway.. will start with this one and post another one tmrw, especially if Liverpool wins again :)

paiseh no updates for some time. ive moved out to my own rented apartment now, and lots of things not set up yet, like internet, phoneline,cabletv. :(

im renting a small apartment in commercial street, which is about 4 mins walk to work hehe. i wake up , wash up, and get into office 20minutes after leaving the bed :) Liverpool st station and aldgate east is also few minutes away, with plenty of eating outlets, tesco, etc.. so im loving the location sooo soo much. Saves me some money that i need not commute to work.

Rent is considerably cheap given the location and that im living alone in a one bedroom apartment with my own privacy. But the downside is that my place is small and furnishing isnt that good either. So im gonna have to get off my lazy ass and hit ikea.

Took a train to Totenham hale, zone 3 i think, and there was this huge ikea and tesco extra there. I had such a long shopping list but i couldnt carry it all in one go. Will go again when fiona is here.

Still need:
standing lamp, bedsheet, quilts, rug, blinds, ...

making up the house is fun but tiring :(

How do i begin? Lets see... i have a hardcore party animal senior trader who goes ibiza few times a year. And he has always been raving how that is De place to go during summer. So okay, shall give it a go since im here.

Got flights, booked rooms... and took 1 week off, cos my parents were also in town for 2 weeks.

Anyway, here is how it went:

Early morning of Sunday the 14th sept, 0400, took train to airport. 0600 flew to ibiza

Reached around 0930 local time...

breakfast : he just drinks redbull, i get my coffee
This is bora-bora. Still early. We slept alot to get ready for We Love Space on Sunday where David Guetta and Tom novy was playing

This is DC10. It is a dump because it looked like a warehouse converted into a club. I then found out that this is an underground thing, where anything goes... i couldnt breathe inside with poor ventilation, and the toilets were making me puke. Not sure what goes on there or what ppl sniff inside.
Quickly left DC10, and went to Priviledge the highlight of Monday was Tiesto.
Priviledge , really the biggest club in the world. Accomodates 12k ppl i think
Tuesday we went Blue Marlin, a little bit like cafe del mar in singapore.
Tuesday evening : Ibiza town
Tuesday Night : Amnesia Club : Armin van buuren was playing. This club is cool, with lots of deco, and cool dancers, as well as this Robot man who walked through the dance floor, and shoot fireworks
Here is how Ibiza advertises all their parties. Its probably the only place in the world where Clubs and Parties have Billboards that big everywhere.

The beautiful sunrise on Thursday as i left Ibiza to the airport. Ah... its so beautiful... i want to go again next year

Ibiza is an island in Spain where its really nice in the summer for the beaches and clubs. Essentially its about 27-28C and doesnt rain often or never. Im going there with my colleague and he goes ibiza 3 times a year.

Typically ppl hit the beach in the afternoon to get a good tann... and rave party under the sun with music pumping on the beach over a few beers. Wait for sunset and enjoy the scenary. Then its get changed, quick dinner, then hit the clubs, party till 7am, get some sleep, then back to the beach for sunlight again in the afternoon. Going to do this for 5 days straight... no idea what ill be after that...over cooked chicken maybe :)

yay.. finally getting abit more settled down in london. Got my UK number already although my SG number is still in use. So anyway, got this for 159 pounds with a normal plan tat gives unlimited data dload ;)

This little device has kept me busy :) Its fun playing with maps (london, singapore, msia... trying to find familiar houses on satelite images. When im lost, just click a button and GPS tells me where i am, and how to get to destination. Wala! magic

Then also frequent the weather report often..checking hows things in singapore too

Then i have the 16GB version for mp3s ( a few gigs which i havent set it up yet ), photos (can come to a few gigs too ), videos ( tempted to put some anime or prison breaks up here ).. so yah.. i think 16GB is the way to go ( good advice jupe )

The unlimited data from my network also helps alot, cos im connecting to internet, GPS, whatever without care... Anyhow just click on the youtube button when im walking to work... too bad tubes in london dont have network :(

Finally after a few home visitings here and there we finally got our place. Had some competition with another buyer but finally got the place signed and secured. Also got my loan approved at Sibor +0.7% ( thats about 1.9% with current rates ). So many paperwork and fees to be paid too. Nonsense. Since when does "stamp" cost so much.. grr

Just a 4rm flat, nothing big or fantastic... but at least it is near city . Dont think i can move in so fast, since there is a hdb queue of months just to process the application... but thats where ill be staying when im back from london. Will throw a proper house warming then..

Glad to be part of singapore :)

had a last min request from bosses for me to go hk.. business trip. syiok. all my other colleagues went liao, so finally its my turn.

not sure if its by mistake or what, but they arranged me to be at mandarin hotel. its freaking nice. and for a month! i think service apartment would have been more appropriate but wow im so gonna love this month. already i feel like a prince. un-imaginable fortune and pampering.

and im on expense i think.. everything just order, room service, mini bar, dinner, dont want to save money for bk. I dont think ill ever get such chance again for a long time after i sign the dotted line.

Banyan Tree @ Bintan

Ah its good to be back. Although its pretty warm in london, but nothing beats the warm climate which i grew up in. I have been deprived of sand sea and sun for months already, and so on a very last minute notice i just wanted to go and have a vacation in the highly rated Banyan Tree.

Meet Fiona, a colleague of mine from IT, and Yes, whatever youre asking... its true.

Back to the bintan trip. So we went there by Ferry, and from the moment we landed, we were greeeted by amazing hospitality from the banyan tree staffs. I had my own transportation arranged .. its nice to see my name there.. so much welcomed. They arranged our passports and our immigration clearance with no hassle. Felt really like VIP.

Upon arrival we just walked around the resort and the neighbouring ones too since it was a little early to check in. Then we had lunch at the Cove. Had a nice pizza.

After food, we went for a massage session which is one of the highlights which I planned for this trip. The best part is that the location of the massage is in this personalized villa.. meaning just the 2 of us. There was aromatherapy and nice soothing music. We got a foot massage, and they even washed our feet. Really felt embarrassed myself. Later we had some complimentary refreshments with a good view of the sea.

The BayFront Pool Villa

This is of course my star attraction why on earth I would go bintan and not anywhere else like bali. So being silly once a lifetime (that’s what I always say), I got the most expensive one. 440 sq meters. Essentially the villa has a big swimming pool, Jacuzzi, outdoor tanning bed, living room, kitchen, king size bed, and a fantastic view of the sea. Pictures speak better.

Becos i kept it a surprise, she was truly shocked that it would be a villa this big. I told her it would be a simple room about $200. When she got in, she was about to cry (maybe even forgot father mother). That look and reaction ... nice one onn.

Dinner
Final highlight is a nice dinner called Reflection. They built a platform on top of a pool which faces the sea, and surrounded by trees. Then theres this walkway lit up with candles. Food is really good too. Although portions are as expected from fine dinning, but it was really filling.

The next day, we did some tanning… I was desperate for sun, and it has been a wonderful weather during the weekend… :)

okay got my poker equipments set liao...

not that im a gambler(dont think i am) but wouldnt mind playing games with friends, small stakes, light banter( especially with Minh haha ), and some drinks and snacks too.

Bought 2 more 500 piece set. Altogether i got 3 sets now. Then also bought a poker table( not the table but just the top part)

My senior trader is Belgian, plus a hardcore trance fan. Under his influence, ive been picking up some knowledge in trance and raves that goes on around the world. Every year there is a Rave called Sensation White. It started of in Amsterdam, and soon after, there is the belgium edition, the german edition, poland, etc.. Anyway, on the 26th April( sat ) is the Belgian edition of Sensation white. A host of DJs will be there:

Whats unique about Sensation white is that everyone must be dressed in WHITE ( from top to bottom ). So when my senior invited me to this event, there was no hesitation in me. A party of all whites... paints a picture of heaven.. haha. Anyway, ive never been in all white. So im excited too.

Started shopping for it already. Got my shirt, my pants, and my shoe all in white. Might wear a white suit too, if its appropriate.

There is also a Sensation Black (mainly techno) but not as big as white. Im expecting 20,000 ppl to be there. Amsterdam edition draws 40,000 and sells out in minutes. (no joke,go check wikipedia)

Anyway, im looking forward to belgian beer ( stella, hoe garden, any others? ) and belgian mussels, and try to buy back some belgian chocolates haha ( anybody? )

Paiseh so long didnt blog, i got really busy and had no time to clean my room either. Anyway, i went Paris during the 4 day easter holiday, and had so much fun shopping ( its so addictive ). Ill leave the paris pics for another day cos its a whole lot to blog about.. and i dont seem to have time.. (stolen by naruto)

I wake up early and work hard in office ( ahem ahem )
I go gym once or twice a week
I eat dinner at home everyday
I watch some episodes of something ( already finished greys anatomy, so currently naruto 115 )
I go to the pub with some other traders to just bitch. Perhaps once a week, not everyday. Its an english culture apparently
I go chinatown once a week to get some real food with friends

but since this weekend is a long weekend ( friday and monday off )
im going to Paris (tonight) for some serious shopping and fun with friends

this weekend will be a long weekend (hooray). Theres good friday and easter off on monday. So on a 4 day weekend right after bonus is paid ( tmrw )... im gonna pay a visit to Paris with some other shopaholic colleagues :) fu onn promises himself not to touch his bonus. (fingers crossed) Im gonna open another account and seperate that money for car or house when i get back.

Meanwhile, since im going Pareeee.... i shall fulfil my shopping desires when its cheap over there (plus theres vat free tax )

1) Belt - need a nice one
2) Shirt - i love good shirts
3) should i get something from LV? not very convinced about guys and LV, but its paris leh..
4) i got to have hugoboss one day ( still dreaming )

sometimes i want to write something, but i cant publish it. i want to write what i feel and who i miss, but even so, opens a can of worms. I want to write my achievements but will that be viewed as boastful/showoff? i want to write the times where i get lonely and empty inside but will that be viewed as weak?. I want to post some pics during parties, but even that brings a party animal image. I want to post about me watching dramas everyday, but does that mean im a homey person? I want to post about my work dilemma, but even that isnt appropriate. Maybe this post itself is inappropriate as it reveals that im pretty much confused.

i dunno what to blog anymore. i dont even know if this blog should continue to exist. Perhaps this is the downside of blogging, that everyone sees how the authors life is. Friends or enemies alike. And everyone can generalize and stereotype. But at least my conscience is clear cos i am living an honest and sincere life. This is enuf to keep me going.

i touched down sunday 2pm london time and reached home about 3pm. Cab was about £70. No way im gonna pay for that. Managed to catch the chelsea liverpool game in time. Then bought some dinner, unpack some stuffs and slept really early cos jetlag.

monday night i bought a whole readily cooked chicken from tesco ( £2.80 ). Its not the spring chicken kind, so it was too much for me to eat. Quite wasteful, but it was a cheap dinner i would say. Im trying to save up some money after some serious spending when i was holidaying in singapore. Basically watching a few episodes of Greys anatomy, and pondering upon my empty msn list, pondering upon the emotional cycles ive been in, pondering on events that could have happen, or ones that shouldnt.

with sas having a delay in visa, i guess ill be spending every night being alone. most single guys looking for fun in a new country with a £5000/month apartment would have explored the opportunity of bring girls home. watching greys will be a safer option.

Anyway, today is Vday. Perhaps the first lonely vday after a long long time, and likely my worst. best v day??? that has to be 2006 :)

Broken gear box

Went back msia last week during CNY...It was a hectic trip, and full of drama (as usual).

On the first day of new year, my gear box smoked... ok fine... my dads gear box smoked. In the middle of a highway, had to call for the tow truck, paid for illegal cabs, hotels, cabs and more cabs. And of cos, the damage:

dont look down on ringgit when theres this much to pay! fortunately dad paid me back.

hmmm been a long night at zouk with Above n Beyond spinning. zouk was packed, could hardly move inside. Anyway the night was good. I went back at 5am, did some packing and 7am the merz cab came to pick me up.

Now im at the airport typing this. biz lounge is really good. i quickly grabbed free breakfast, was starving to death after zouk. Now going to board the plane (sq308)

slightly mixed feelings about this trip, but i dont think ill be depressed, this time around. Guess i had my flight postponed a couple of times and my departure was long overdue. I couldnt ask for more. During this period, ive met a lot of new friends, and significant people who were there at the right moment for me. And of course a series of dranatic events.

Ive partied enough, and threw more farewells than actually necessary. Perhaps now its time to work hard, reflect on life, learn something new, or.. ermm.. go touring around europe.

You can bet ill be blogging more ya.

Last week ( one day after the drinks session in Rogue), there was a reunion dinner for those working in the dealing room. I was extremely happy to get off my london hours just to spend 3+ hours in a luxury dinner with close colleagues :)

So it was just a 2 min walk to OCBC's building next door. and the restaurant is called : Peach Restaurant. The food, ambience, and service is amazing. 2 thumbs up for me.

so the weekend has passed, and it was smashing.

Friday night

It started off with me taking a half day off (night time) so i could hit Zouk at 10. Daisy's company had a function in velvet. Guess what? its her first time to Zouk/Velvet! Well, not too late :) im also quite late in many ways of life. Anyway this is me and daisy at zouk entrance. Got the shirt from Raoul, though it looks like it was from Playboy (anyway its just a shirt). Oh.. i wore that to work too.. hahah boh chap..

CP joined for us for a quick dinner, and then we hit Velvet. Colleagues then came and had a crowd of about 20 ppl. Lets see, for starters we had 2 bottles of vodka and 1 whiskey. Not paid by me though..

Then next to our table had this girl (not my friend), but she had no shame in parading her new toy. I thought it was amusing and it certainly made things more fun in our area. Warning, adult content.

The party ended about 3+ and then i joined Joe and his friends at members. Practiced some shuffling as well because Sister Bliss was playing. Other than that it was just chatting and relaxing, till the music stops at 5am. It was rather tiring.. but not the worst yet.

Saturday:

So slept at about 6am till 1pm (7 hours, good enough) and ready for the long day. Rushed to get some towels and head off to Cafe del mar. Reached about 2pm.

Why cafe del mar?

1) cos its their first year anniversary (so drinks 1 for 1)

2) cos charles and taher is in singapore

3) cos they play good house/trance music

4) cos ive missed the sun , sand and sea :)

The rest were late, so initially it was just me, charles and his 2 friends.

Thanks to the 4 of you for taking me out. I know ive been a broken record (bla-ing nonstop and often repetition, naggy etc...) and ive also been like a light bulb to 2 loving couples. Anyway thanks cos i havent watched a proper movie for months now. Hmm did u like invite me becos of my previous post? hmm gotta blog more then :)

8.30pm - 10.30pm :

Cant remember the place, but it was in kallang, at a somewhat rooftop thingy. And the 5 of us had dinner together.... yet again.. listening to my rant. I was like.. ok im keeping my mouth shut now... and im gonna listen to whatever issues/stories u guys have to tell me. Bah.. there was silence..either u guys not telling me, or u really have nothing interesting going on. Well maybe its all zen and fuss free, unlike me now.

11pm :

Went to zouk, waited for macallan team and other friends. All were late, so i practiced abit of shuffling. I know i dont look good at all... but at least im getting the steps abit right now. Then went to velvet, had some drinks with friends.. then everyone came.. and we headed to members. Met more ppl, socialize, chat, a few drinks, and just chilling..

Realized i got no pics to show ? Phone batt died . Lousy... i also havent died yet. Camera-ing too much liao

Best hand for the day is Andrew's 9,10,J,Q,K Diamonds. Thats one below royal flush. Amazing.

Minh again negative. Had one lucky big round, but after that skill prevailed... HOT ar.. :)

5 days till the next weekend

i hate london hours

ive been working london hours for 2 weeks now. about 3+pm till 2am or so. Needless to say - I freaking hate it. I have no social life now. For 5 days a week i wake up late, pack lunch to office, work, then go for 20min dinners (what can you really do in 20 mins?), and work again. Finally when knocking off, i have to pay insane midnight cab fares at 2am. Then when im back home, everyones offline. Im lonely again. I cant make dinner appointments, and lunch is the best i can make do with. Really sucks.

On a good note is that i get london shift allowance. Its not much but okay, its cash, and that sponsors my "going out" expenses (partially) during the weekend.

So anyway, its thursday and weekend is near. Gonna party my heart out this weekend.

Some say i party too much. Ive got a few names now...

(all these? nah.. i dont agree... i think im just an organiser)

Price is 0.00 Got it free from a friend friend (thanks). I wouldnt really pay for tennis. Anyway went with Team Macallen haha
nearest player is Anna, she is so small. Quite a disadvantage really. I was like first few rows... nice tickets.

On the contrary to Jolly's opinion, i think my wedding has to be awesome. The amount given by guests doesnt have to be market value, but if i have the ability, then it has to be awesome.

Having organised 2 Dinner and dances in hall, and one for SCbank, i really want mine to be awesome. I agree with you that the program matters alot more than the venue. But the venue does give the event more options with greater facilities( bigger stage, no pillars, etc ), nicer deco, bigger cocktail reception, bla bla bla.
Hmmm what happened to my DND on a Cruise idea? hmmm... no budget that year.

Anyway, for all my talk...im missing the main ingredient of a wedding. Laughs.

It was a sunday, and me and micr-on friends were suppose to have tea, well hi-tea actually. Previously we met up in coffeeclub for dinner so im happy i got to meet them more than once :)

We were suppose to go merchant court for hi-tea, but it was full, but someone forgot to book lor...So we ended up in like really "atas" tea. Also known as V room , the cookie museum served tea, the english stlyle. Located at Esplanede, lowest floor.

Tea is like $10+, and cake also almost $20. So ya.. while we sit like royalties for a day, it comes at a price. haha. The deco and cookies are nice. Just pricey...

The irony is that : dont i have too much of english stuffs already? hmmm

Christmas Gatherings

Anyway.. everyday in singapore is precious and now got sometime again to blog. So going back like almost a week....

Christmas countdown... at SJSM,dover. At the end of the service, they passed us candles and we lit it up by passing the flame from candle to candle. It kinda reminded me of my hall days. Those memories will always stay with me. This is how it looks like... (too bad they didnt off lights)

Then on Christmas it was Potluck lunch in the Serangoon.

Our potluck... super alot of food with chocolate fondue and icecreams as desert. And pizzas! couldnt finish it

Movida Party (again)

Threw a party at movida on a Friday night (in between christmas and new year). Was quite fortunate to get the VIP sofas, so everything is set and ready. Adipos also sponsored a hotel room for pre and post party ( like dinner and dance days).

So the night started with me waking up at 1pm ( on leave) and getting myself to royal park plaza in scotts road. Met Adipos at the poolside. Good view

Met up with some colleagues for dinner. Did alot of catching up.
christopher, yueyee, me , paul.

Had lots of these. Cheaper in Sg than in Lon, so eat all i can first. And the quality in Sushi Tei is much better than sakae ( duh! ). Its bigger slices and tastes fresher too. Now i can tell between good sashimi and lousy ones. :)
If its kushinbo, ill be having at least 5 of these. Which reminds me of the song...Tong Tong Tong, 123, We are kushinbo. ( Had this in my drafts before u commented adipos, we seem to have great connection.. "telepathy" )
And of cos ebi tempura! Couldnt resist and ate before taking picture.

Jap cuisine is really good afterall, and even better when u dont think about the price and just whack the sashimi... hehe.. I was gonna apply for the membership card already. But then i may not be around, so perhaps ill wait.

And best penang fried kuey teow is from Killeny. At 1 pound... what a steal. lol

4.30pm : Then i rushed to Balaclava to meet Jupe, Justin and Chenpeng. Its just us guys, but We had issues to talk. Yes we started drinking this early. All slackers who no need to work!! :P

Family reunion

I live with my sis. Parents live in Msia. Brother studies in Aus. But just recently, we all got united again. And so we went out for dinner,shopping, though my dad was more interested in finishing my crate of hoegarden and 2 bottles of XO that i bought long time ago.

Family Photo! We were at some Korean restaurant in Tg Pagar. We actually sat on the floor. And they have Korean TV channels on.Im wearing my new tee from levis. hehe, think ive shopped too much, but ive thrown away(or gave away) half my old clothes in my wardrobe. New body = new clothes. hehe

We also went to my favourite steak place : HOGS BREATH! This one is in Chijmes. I really think that the quality in Chijmes is far better than the one in Holland Village.

This is my usual ( always the same combo ). And just look how juicy it is from the pic. When cut, a little bit of blood oozes out, and its just so soft and tender. Perfect!

First Class

First thing I did when I reached the airport was to check in and head straight to the business class lounge. Why? Cos Liverpool is playing Marseille in a “do or die game”. I only managed to catch just a bit of the game. But it was a comfortable victory away from home. :)

So it was time to board the plane. Before boarding I quickly grabbed a macallen. This particular one caught my eye as ive never seen it in Singapore before. A good time to open during Christmas eh?

So anyway back to the point. (damn it) I got to the boarding gates, gave the lady my ticket. She took a good look at me, and then she said: “ Here you go, this is your new seat, its by the window” . I stoned for a second, and said “ huh? Why new seats?” I clearly remembered I chose the isle seat cos there weren’t many choices left. She said : “its an upgrade”. Hmmm okay. Honestly I thought she got me window seats and thought it was a big deal that she called it upgrade. I wouldn’t even bother if its window or isle, I just wanna sleep.

As I walk to the plane, I starred at my ticket: “ Upgrade due to O/s “. I had no clue. Cant be that I got upgraded to First Class right? With disbelief I scanned the ticket up and down : Class : F . Okay, now im starting to believe, cos I knew I was class B or C or something like that. My seat number : A03. At this moment still trying to control myself, it just cant possibly be.

As I approach the door of the plane, air stewardess was directing biz and economy class passengers to their seats. “ Sir, Row C is that way” “Maam, Row D is that way”. As it was my turn, she saw A03. She paused, and asked me to wait, because she wanted to bring someone to “escort” me.

I’m like….woah.. This is unbelievable. Instead of the normal right turn when entering the plane, I turned left and was escorted to the First Class cabin. And this is it. My first class seat:

My first impression, is like : OH MY GOD. There is a total of 12 seats in the cabin. It looked something like this:

There was so much room…. See my legs couldn’t reach.. Unless I extend out the leg stand.

Then my first champagne and snack. Taittinger champagne.

Then a had not 1, but 3 windows :)

Then I had a box of facial kit, with moisturizer, facial creams, etc.

And then there is this funny thing which I never got in biz class. Its called: Aroma Therapeutics Sleep Enhancer…. I was so impressed.. Can come handy somemore. Especially those nights where I cant sleep  So I shall definitely save this for better times when I need it. Don’t think ill need this now do I. hahah

Then since I had so much space, so I pull out my laptop and start blogging. See my wallpaper. Mazda RX8. It has 2 doors but seats 4 inside. Not exactly my dream car, but perhaps the car that is on my “to-do list” for 2008. Muahaha. Waiting for bonus. Please oh Please (it has to exceed my expectation).

Someone once told me: “if you have traveled on business class, you will not want to travel on economy again” Its very true. So cheers to .. Ermm .. Myself, for a “Atas” life…. oh well at least for 12 hours.

As im blogging this, the flight is being delayed. Its been stuck for one and a half hours now. Still in Heathrow Airport. Sighs.. This aint funny no more ya. Then the announcement goes : “We are sorry for the delay. Our software shows that one of the doors is still open, but we have checked and ensure that the door is shut tightly. We do not know why the system is responding in such a manner”

Ok now im nervous. But it kinda makes sense now… All of a sudden so lucky to get First Class? Then some technical difficulties?…. Now I got a bad feeling about my safety on this flight. Its like a last supper for a prisoner. Nice treatment, Nice food, and dead the next day. So as I type this out,… hopefully nothing happens to me. But if so, at least I was given my last supper. If you are a police officer investigating bits and pieces of my hard disk and found this, then please tell...

Ok the plane is about to take off, and some memories of Final Destination 1 is coming to my mind. This upgrade is giving me the creeps. Plane is moving.. Take offed. Everthing is safe. On back computer.

Now ive changed into my pajamas. So comfortable. Will bring this back :)

Ok gonna watch a movie. Ah… damn, how can they not have a button where I can restart the movie to watch from the beginning? I even asked the stewardess and she said I have to wait till the movie is over and it will replay itself. Gosh. This is a big No No for BA. So anyway, In the end I just watched Bourne Ultimatum (cos ive watched it before and its easy to join in half way).

Finally landed. Was the first to leave the plane. hahah no more queues or such. I also saw the pilot and his controls (his door was open) Then i went out from the first class exit. nice la.. cant believe my luck.

Haha so anyway this me, the wong fu onn that will always have something to talk about. And will discover and experience more stuffs in future, just like this flight.

BUSY WEEK

On saturday and sunday, ive been mostly at home. Studying and being lonely again. Im literally online 24hours... I did a lot of thinking, trying to figure out what went wrong, why i acted in certain manner, what would have happen if i wasnt here, what would have happen if i didnt act, or should have act. Trying to interpolate trends, predicting outcomes, and planning for the future. Theres never enough of thinking and sometimes im still puzzled how i could have shot myself in the foot. Judging from my past, this will take me a long long time to recover.

anyway... fortunately weekends are over. PHEW!

So heres the plan for a busy weekend:

Morning: Barry arrives to my room! Yay! my scb friend :)
Night: KarKeng is here. He is a friends friend, and now my friend. But should i go out with him or Barry? Die la...i double booked.

Other than eating chocs.. of cos shopping is a fantastic way of killing time, and getting good pleasure of a fruitful afternoon. Provided i buy something good.. which i always do, lol. I think im a very decisive person, and its quite rare if i come home empty handed.. haha... But once i start buying, i can end up buying alot. lol..

From H&M. Singapore got right? i like the material and the fitting. Gotta get rid of my old clothes! Anyway this is like 7.90 pounds. :)

Its the same size and cutting as the H&M one, but i like the ax logo there.. nice, shinny, and small. Best part is that it doenst cost too much in UK. its like the price of 2 dinners (25pounds)

Chocs time

While those going for marathons are burning calories and getting really fit, im busy eating chocs.

These are belgium chocolates from AM. He brought a whole lot of it and we finished it in a day.... im gonna get nose bleed, "soar" troat, etc... but it does get quite addictive.. Some good chocolates can be really sweet, if appreciated. Hehe.

And of cos visits to the office pantry, for more coke, coffee, cafein, etc

Its getting quite cold, and i now wear sweaters at work. Which means on somedays i can escape from ironing if i wake up late :P Who knows right. haha

Its my daily routine to watch an episode of something while having meals. Its either

maybe ill start on heroes next.

If you havent watched southpark, i strongly recommend it. Its 20mins per episode, and its just so funny, entertaining and meaningful. From this website, you can watch all the eipsodes, old and new.

In this episode of southpark, its basically about break-up between Stan and Wendy. And of all people, Butters (the dumb himbo) comes up with the most meaningful ending to this episode. What he said really struck me :

I love life. I am sad, but at the same time im really happy that something can make me feel that sad. Its like it makes me feel alive. It makes me feel human. The only way i can feel this sad now is if i felt something really good before. So i have to take the bad with the good. So i guess what im feeling now is a beautiful sadness.

my ex-colleague from micron and now flying with SIA. We were lunch buddies, tea break buddies and Genting buddies for about a year. Say wanna intro me to her crew but ffk me. :( Hehe..

We had dinner in the famous roasted duck in FOUR SEASONS ( its not the hotel, just an affordable restaurant with 1/2 boneless roast duck at 9.80pounds)

She asked me if i wanted anything from singapore.. i was thinking hard, and finally thought of something i once ate in singapore :

EAR BISCUITS!!! She bought so many packets.. good la, i can bring to office.

No wonder my nose is bleeding. booo hooo.

Today our business software Equilibrooom was due for a major update. And so the head of trading asked the whole team to report to work early, just so we can iron out any bugs and get the installation up and running before the cash markets open at 8am. So normally i start work at 7.30am.. but today i was in by 7am. EOM right.

So okay.. did my work, had some technical issues the whole day, which disrupted some of my prices. Somehow today, there were so many pricing/trading requests to me. So it was non stop pricing for me. I was just so busy and sas was swamped too, and we both had deadlines to meet. I think i did about 6 or 7 prices, and we were really rushing through everything. Its a sudden heavy volume. So from 7am, i worked till 2.00pm and i still had no lunch.

There was a pricing due at 2.00pm and me and sas rushed to price that one.. and only managed to send it out at 2.30pm. Still no lunch, and i came extra early to work, and im dead exhausted and demoralized from other things thats happening. Then instead of getting a big thank you, the first thing the sales guy did was to scold us for being late in the price. TMD. Should have just gone for lunch instead. Then scold so loudly, bloody hell.. just want to show power cos im a freaking junior. Have some thought for others and just let us know gently through MA that the client went away lah. It was through the speaker bus!. All he cared was himself, and his freaking commission.

Can life be anymore unfair? certainly.

Met up with some fellow ex-colleagues from SCB in london. Some on rotation, some permanently transfered... Lee is from Korea so he brought us to a nice Korean restaurnt, and as usual i cant help but take some pics.

Food was quite good... though i think i prefer Jap cuisines better... Hmm no jap friends here to bring me.. Maybe ill try once.. but will surely be expensive here. Love their sashimi ( will eat a plateful ) Love their Chawamushi ( 4-5 bowls ) Tempura ( oh man... a mountain on my plate ) And some etc which isnt that impt.... and free flow drinks.. ok ive swayed from topic...

Lee sent us back in his Merz he bought for 16k pounds ( 3year old 2nd hand ) What a steal right. Cars in london are definitely cheaper than singapore. Maintainence probably comparable, but buying good/branded cars should be cheaper here. Wheres my ferrari (roll eyes)? Kidding... can only afford a toy really.

My parents are in singapore.. nice... cos i miss them alot.. But it feels different that im here and they are there.. the physical presence is important. When they go out for dinner, all we do is disconnect. Being stuck infront of a monitor also isnt helpful... once they all laughed and had so much fun in the kitchen when im just still infront of the camera...When they open a bottle of wine,... and toast... i just watch... while waiting for my lunch from microwave to be done.... when ppl are asleep im awake, and vice versa..... things are different. :|

I'll give it a serious thought if i still want to be here...

Meanwhile, all i can do is webcam.. and hope ppl in singapore dont forget me. So everyone, pls get a webcam...

Transparent Maggi

OK! i know everyone can cook maggi... but im the best la.. seriously.. just give me this award okay, cos i deserve it.

MAggi has to be cooked to absolute precision with the correct amount of water, and duration of cooking is key. The critical part is to allow the mee to change to a slightly transparent texture... YET NOT SOGGY. Ah hah! once that is achieved, its soooo satisfying...
